The university's highest collegial body: composition, leadership and decisions.
The Academic Council is the university's collegial governing body. It defines strategy and priorities for educational, scientific, and innovation activities; approves study programmes; elects heads of structural units; confers academic awards; and addresses organisation of teaching and learning. Members are elected for a five‑year term.

Council composition
The Council includes representatives of nine university faculties — History and Law; Natural Sciences, Special and Health-Preserving Education; Preschool Education; Foreign Philology; Arts; Primary Education; Social Sciences and Humanities; Physical Culture and Sport; Physics and Mathematics — as well as two academic institutes.
